Edge systems

Wired precision.
Wireless reach.

Choose the edge architecture that fits each asset. Both systems run locally, alarm in real time, and sync to the same VibraFabrics platform.

Platform architecture

Software on top of the best hardware in the industry

VibraFabrics is a software layer that unlocks the full potential of Beckhoff's automation platform. The hardware scales to your sensor count. The software scales to your site count.

Edge Layer — Real-Time Alarms & Data Capture
Beckhoff Windows PLC

Edge Device — Wired

Real-Time Acquisition & Local Alarming

  • Primarily IEPE vibration sensors — plus any Beckhoff-compatible I/O
  • Hardware scales to the number of channels needed (C6025, C6030, …)
  • Beckhoff TwinCAT real-time runtime on EtherCAT bus
  • Digital alarm outputs — 24 VDC relay, tower light — fully autonomous
  • Local HMI for on-site configuration (no cloud access required)
  • Forwards data via Modbus TCP, OPC-UA, MQTT, HTTP/S, and more

Wireless Fleet Gateway

  • LoRaWAN gateway aggregates battery-powered wireless sensors
  • No cabling — works kilometres away from the control room
  • Edge pre-processing before forwarding to the server
  • Combines with wired edge devices in the same deployment
  • Local HMI for on-site configuration (no cloud access required)
  • Forwards data via Modbus TCP, OPC-UA, MQTT, HTTP/S, and more

Cloud Server

Central AI, Dashboard & Fleet Management

  • Receives scalar metrics and raw signal captures from all edge devices
  • Configurable anomaly detector — AI early warning, not real-time alarming
  • Raw signal archive — future-proof for advanced AI as techniques evolve
  • Multi-site dashboard with admin / user roles and tenant management
  • Configuration created at the edge, mirrored here as read-only

Full Data Sovereignty — No Internet Required

  • Identical capabilities to the cloud server — deployed on your own hardware
  • Data never leaves your plant or your network
  • No subscription to a cloud provider required
  • Ideal for regulated industries and air-gapped environments
  • Maintain full control of AI model configuration and data retention

One edge device sends processed metrics and raw captures to one server — cloud or local. The simplest starting point for a single facility or a pilot project.

Wireless edge coverage

Long-range LoRaWAN monitoring for remote assets without cabling.

The wireless edge runs on a Beckhoff Linux PLC with a LoRaWAN gateway. Battery-powered sensors install in minutes and typically run for over a year. One gateway can cover a large site while forwarding data to the same dashboard, anomaly detection, and protocol egress stack used by wired deployments.

Compatibility

Built for Any Machine, Any Environment

From ultra-slow agitators to ultra-fast turbines, from clean rooms to explosive atmospheres — VibraFabrics adapts to your site, not the other way around.

An IEPE accelerometer sensor is visibly attached to the motor housing with a magnetic or stud mount. EtherCAT cable running to a Beckhoff I/O terminal. Dramatic moody industrial lighting with blue/teal tones, shallow depth of field, professional industrial photography style."

Hazardous environments

Zone 1 & Zone 2 ATEX environments covered.

For chemical plants, oil & gas facilities, and mining operations, VibraFabrics supports ATEX-compatible sensor options feeding data to a safely-located Beckhoff edge device outside the hazardous zone. No personnel need to enter the zone for inspection rounds — the sensors do it continuously.

  • ATEX-rated sensor options for Zone 1 and Zone 2
  • Processing hardware located in safe area
  • 24 VDC alarm output triggers safety response independently

The Beckhoff advantage

Because VibraFabrics runs on Beckhoff hardware, you inherit the entire Beckhoff I/O ecosystem: EtherCAT daisy-chaining, hardware-level safety modules, high-speed counter inputs, and support for virtually every industrial signal type — without writing a line of PLC code. If Beckhoff can read it, we can ingest it.

Autonomous alarming

Alarms still trigger when servers and internet are unavailable.

VibraFabrics edge devices execute alarm logic on the Beckhoff PLC and can trigger 24 VDC digital outputs directly. Server analytics and dashboards add context, but your real-time protection remains local and independent.
